Jay Chou The Era Concert 2010

If you don't know...I'm a huuuuuge Jay Chou fan! And when I found out he's coming to Vancouver for The Era America and Canada Tour Concert, I made sure I get a pair tickets! I went with Bunnie Pie and we had an awesome time! I managed to sing along with him. Other than that, I waved my pink glow stick the whole night! ;) Okay, enjoy the pictures!

I heart you, Jay Chou!!!

Got Craft? Holiday Show & a trip to Michaels

This morning I went to the Got Craft? Holiday Show with A and Missy. We went in the Spring Show back in May, so we made sure we get there by 8am because we want to be the first 45 people to receive the swag bag. Unfortunately we were not early enough :( Apparently the line up started at 6am! :( Maybe next time...

The clouds were pretty

October Birthday Cards

I thought I should blog about these birthday cards from October before this month ends. I'm a little late posting these cards, sorry!

This first card was made for CS. The floral paper reminded me of her, so I had to use it! And the "make a wish" stamp goes really well the birthday candle sticker. So, here's another birthday card for her to add on her book shelf...Happy Birthday! Don't forget to click here to see her last year's birthday card.

What I have been doing...

How is everyone's week so far? Good, I hope!

School is really keeping me busy these days so I won't be crafting as much :( Aside from school, we're getting some snow in Vancouver! So I took a break from working on my projects and played in the snow!

It was my first time teaching such a big group...luckily the executives and I prepared for this event last week :) Thanks for letting me teach you guys and the members. I hope everyone had fun and learned a lot about card making!

CC used origami paper to decorate her card. Good idea!

Happy (very) Belated Birthday!

I finally got the chance to give VS her belated birthday card! Her birthday was in May, but it's the thought that counts! Happy Belated Birthday! :)

Someone messaged on Facebook and suggested that I should get a round corner punch for my cards. I'm glad this person recommended it to me because the round corners make the cards super cute! Thank you!

By the way, how's my bow? Is it almost perfect? :D

Round corners are cute!

My Halloween Weekend

Did you dress up for Halloween this year? :) I was Wenda, Where's Waldo's girlfriend. I had a lot fun dressing up as her...people were pointing at me and telling me, "I found Waldo!" I don't blame them for calling me Waldo because it seems like no one really knows who Wenda is :T lol

I found Waldo and Lady Gaga :)

Dessert Doctrine: SFU Origami Club & YVC

I mentioned the executives from the SFU Origami Club and I volunteered at the Burnaby Hospital last Friday. The event was called Dessert Doctrine I: Origami & Card Tricks. We were there to teach the volunteers from the Youth Volunteer Council some simple origami so they can make it with their patients. There were also interactive games, card tricks, and ice cream cake! Yum! I had a great time, so enjoy the pictures!

Origami! :)

Practical and Decorative Origami

Last Friday, SFU Origami Club organized a practical themed event. Instead of folding for fun, we thought it would be something new and different to teach members to fold practical things with just origami paper. There were decorations, bookmarks, boxes, envelopes, chopstick stands, and the list goes on!

I had so much fun that I actually folded some stuff to decorate my room. I folded this really cute sunflower photo stand.

I love sunflowers :)

Little Brother's Birthday

Happy Birthday to my lil' butter!

He gave me a cupcake calendar for my birthday, so I used a cupcake paper for his birthday card.

I gave my little brother a Domo t-shirt. I saw this t-shirt at Urban Outfitters and I thought it was the perfect gift for him because he loves Domo! It kinda reminds me of his little monster birthday card from last year.

I'm Oh-Kay!

First of all, today is Spirit Day, a day for people to wear purple in support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) individuals. I was inspired by Ellen Degeneres' video on bullying. You can click here to watch her touching video. I'm wearing purple right now, but only at home because I have to rest my back...so here's a picture of me wearing a purple hoodie and purple socks with hearts :)

Visit Stop Gay Hate to learn more.

Wearing purple for Spirit Day

So! My back is feeling a bit better now. I'm amazed that I went to school on Monday and worked on Tuesday...I deserve that ice cream in the fridge! haha

Friends visited me today. We played Grand Theft Auto (an interesting game...), Hoopla, and drank bubble tea. It was nice having them over because I was feeling kinda blah from watching TV and sleeping all day. OH! Check out my card that friends gave me! Yay!

Michaels Arts and Crafts Store Grand Opening

Finally! I have waited many months for this new Michaels store to open! I love Michaels so much that I would rather go to the grand opening than see a doctor about my back pain (I will go see one soon!).

After work, Bunni Pie and I went to straight Michaels to do some insane craft supplies shopping. Maybe "insane" wasn't a good word, but it's close enough! We shopped for almost two hours and spent about half an hour looking at ribbons. I love their ribbon aisle! It's so neat and colourful!

Just like a kid in a candy store

More presents for me!

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and got to spend their Thanksgiving Day with loved ones. I guess this is a perfect time to say that I'm thankful for my families, friends, Hello Kitty, and glitter glue :P

I want to share some more birthday presents that I got. I think they are pretty cool and special. I know, my birthday was two weeks ago...this will be my last post on my birthday, I promise :)

My friend, who made and drew a cupcake birthday card, gave me this printed t-shirt. What's so cool is that he took one of my drawings and turned it into a t-shirt! He gave me a box of these t-shirts :) Thanks!

Birthday cards for me

Here are the birthday cards that I got from my friends...2 weeks ago. oops, thanks for waiting! :P

This handmade pop-out card is from S-Bear. I love the details in this card. The glitter on the cake, the white tissues for the cream, and I didn't forget about the Hello Kitty! The coolest thing about this card is that you can fold it down!

Life of the Party

Happy Birthday to my friend, TK!

I'm sad that I wasn't able to come to Victoria to celebrate her birthday during the weekend, so I made sure her card extra special. I actually saved the "Life of the Party" piece just for TK because it reminds me of her :)

Fall Semester Clubs Day at SFU

This week was Clubs Day at SFU! I was there on Tuesday with other executives to recruit old and new members. I love Clubs Day mainly because I get to talk to students, share my hobby, and learn to fold new things! There were so many students that joined...we filled up about six pages that day (and within four hours).

Baby cousin's first birthday

Yesterday was my baby cousin's first birthday party at a recreation centre that was close to home. There were lots of fun activities to do for the kids like floor hockey and basketball. It was a barnyard themed party so I tried to make a card to match this fun party idea. Unfortunately, I don't have any farm animals supplies, so zoo animals will do! :) So everyone, please say hello to Happy the Hippopotamus and Goofy the Giraffe!

Love Love Love

A good friend of mine, VS, asked me to make an engagement card for her friend. I had a hard time thinking of a design for this card because I don't have a lot of engagement/wedding supplies. I guess I should stop buying cupcake-themed supplies :) Anyway, congratulations to the newly engaged couple!

I made this card really simple because I want to emphasize the satin blue bow and the "Love" embellishment. You have no idea how hard it was for me to put down the glitter glue and stickers...I wanted to add more! :P

You can't see them, but I dotted all the pink dots with glitter glue.

My bows are getting better!
See this card at craftgawker :)

Here's another engagement card that I've made for my girlfriend....who asked me to be her bridesmaid! ♥ ♥ ♥

Have a great week, everyone! And happy first week of sch...ool? .......

Stacking Cupcakes

Hello! I apologize for not posting anything for a week :( My co-workers are on vacation, so I'm taking most of their shifts. One of them is coming back soon, so I don't have to work as much anymore. I can finally enjoy the rest of summer....before sch...oo...l starts.

It was the kitchen slave's birthday last month and I've made her the perfect birthday card! I was inspired by her gorgeous and yummy cupcake tower!

A Girly Birthday Card with a Twist

My friend, AS, who hosted the tea party last Sunday, asked me to make a birthday card for her best friend, YW. Today is her birthday, so....Happy Birthday, YW! I hope she likes her card :)

I love the pink, flowers, and lace!

Just finished my final exam today! Hooray! I can finally enjoy the rest of the summer...I have so many things I want to do, so hopefully I can find time to do them all :) I'm so happy right now that I want to share this cheerful card to you guys!

This card is perfect for any occasion! Also perfect for someone that loves flowers but allergic to them...like me :) Luckily my allergies were not as bad as last year...perhaps I'm not allergic to pollen anymore? :P I wish...

A for Apple, Tea for Treats

Some girlfriends and I were invited to a tea party hosted by AS. We were in a tent (it was very sunny today!) drinking tea and eating sweets at her fiancĂ©’s backyard. It was my first tea party and it was exactly how I have imagined when I was younger: pretty dresses, sweet treats, yummy snacks, and good friends. Since it was my first tea party, I baked a lemon cake with creamy lemon filling! It was a good time to take out my cake decorating kit that was left aside for some time :P

Hello, you make me smile

I used my perfect-ish bows to make cards. What I like about these cards is that they are great for other occasions or even last minute things. Sometimes it's hard to find greeting cards to go with a celebration or event, so these cards are simple enough to say whatever you want...just make sure you write something inside to make it more personal :P

For Sale.

Tying the Perfect Bow Update!

Last week I said that I would try to tie the perfect bow and show you guys what it looks like. I was following the tutorial video, but my bows don't look like hers! After tying a couple of bows, I learned that various fabric creates different shapes. For example, stiff ribbons create fatter bows and loops are bigger. I was using thin ribbons, so my bows don't look so bubbly :P

My advice is to take your time when tying your bows. Make sure you put your fingers through the loops and pull because that method will create bigger loops. Anyway, here are my (perfect?) bows....

I will keep practicing :P

This is how I made my sash bow...you will need:

Pictures from Powell Street Festival

This year was SFU Origami Club's first time participating in the Powell Street Festival. Some of the executives from the club and I taught origami in the Children's Tent and we had a great time! I was surprised by how busy it was because the weather was a bit cloudy in the morning. By the end of the day, I was quite exhausted from standing and teaching all day...a lot of the little kids asked me to teach them how to make a dinosaur, which was the hardest one to make. I couldn't say no to them because they were so cute! :)

Saturday, July 31st - Friends and I went to visit the festival. The first thing I saw were the cranes hanging from the trees! They looked really pretty and I was happy that people were taking so pictures of them! I wanted to walk up to people and tell them we folded all those cranes! ...but that would be creepy :P Too bad it rained because it looked floppy the next day.

We folded and KY strung all the cranes!

Sunday, August 1st- SFU Origami Club in action :)

1) The Children's Tent before the kids came in.
2) The lovely executives.
3) Someone (we called him the master) folded the goblins.
4) Standing in front of a sign. (My mom took that picture! I taught her well :))

Our future origami club executives? lol

We got vouchers, so we lined up for takoyaki!
I burnt my tongue that day..it was too delicious!

:)

Thank you to Powell Street Festival for including the SFU Origami Club. Thanks to friends that came to the festival with me and friends that visited me. And big thanks to the executives, KY, AC, and KWC, who helped and prepared for this festival. ♥

Tying the Perfect Bow

I have some favourite craft blogs that I visit almost everyday. I'm always amazed (and jealous) by how they can tie the perfect bows. After some whining to A about how much I want those bows on my cards, I did some research on YouTube and found some tutorials on how to tie the a perfect bow.

Visit Martha Stewart's Ribbons and Bows to learn the different types of bows. I hope one day I can tie these...

Oh, Martha Stewart...you just made me drool.

Ready to learn? Here's a tutorial by butternutsage.

Martha Stewart's Bow How-to

Oh, I also bought new ribbons yesterday! I have a lot of small ribbons, so those won't work if I want fat bows :) Aside from ribbons, I bought a lace border. They come in different lace patterns and they're stickers so you don't have to use glue or tape. I love the border stickers because they're so easy to use! (I used heart border for my Mother's Day card).

I love the scalloped edge ribbons

In the video, she said it's like tying a shoe...well, that's not how I tie my shoes :( but it shouldn't be that hard, I hope. I will update you guys on my attempt to tie the perfect bow!

Happy Crafting!
