Thanks a Bunch - Part 1

My friend finished his practicum and he asked me to make thank you cards for him to give out. It was my first time creating thank you cards and I had so much fun making them. What I like about it is that I can do anything I want! :)

I've made four thank you cards, but I’ll only post two for now… only because I have to wake up early in the morning. I'm going to this event called EAT! Vancouver, Canada's largest consumer food, beverage, and cooking festival! I can't wait to taste their delicious food!

I'll post the other two cards soon!

Have a great weekend! ;)

Edit:
My blog has a face lift! So if some of my older posts look funny, it's because of the new template. Anyways, I hope you like the new layout/design.

Card Maker & Fashion Lover’s First Handmade Necklace

I was eyeing on a really cute vintage necklace during one of the craft fairs that I went not too ago, but I didn’t end up buying it. A few days later, bff found a really interesting store called I Found Gallery. They sell a wide collection of vintage jewellery findings like lockets, charms, and buttons! Apparently their collection ranges from the 1940s to 1980s! (Wow!)

It took us two and a half hours to find these cute charms and chains, but it was worth it!
Top: A; Bottom: Mine

Instead of buying them, we thought it would be fun to make our own one-of-a-kind necklaces…so we visited I Found Gallery! I was quite surprised that the store was so big! We spent a little over two and a half hours searching for charms and chains to go with them. At first, I didn't know where to start. I had to walk around the store a few times to see what I like (and it doesn’t help that I’m so picky!). Luckily, the jewellery findings were neatly displayed according to their shapes & designs. And there was a really nice sale associate that helped us!

I'm concentrating really hard!

It was nice to try out a different craft project that doesn't have to do with paper. I had so much fun making it with A! The hardest part was connecting the rings to smaller chains. Now, I appreciate jewellery makers so much more…

Planning out what to do. (Check out our NEW pliers!)

I still can't believe our necklaces are so pretty! I'm wearing mine right now and I can't wait to go out and show it off! :) Okay, I'll stop talking and post the photos! :) Enjoy!

A's- I love her Bulova watch face!

Mine
(I just realized that my heart locket is upside down, so you can't see the flower design on it)

Here's us wearing our one-of-a-kind vintage necklace :)

Credits to maybegirl for majority of the photos. Thanks! :)

Happy Birthday, Girlfriend!

It's bff's birthday!

We celebrated her birthday last night and it was wonderful! It was lovely seeing friends and, of course, it was nice to see bff having a great time. She received some awesome gifts too! Check out the latest post on her blog and don't forget to wish her a happy birthday! :)

And here's her birthday card that I've made for her (lots of glitter for my sparkly friend)

Happy Birthday! i♥u

Happy Mother's Day!

The first thing my mom said was "I love my purse!" And then she asked me if there was money inside. No..sorry, Mom. Instead, there were three coupons for a FREE hug (one from me and two from my brothers). She didn't redeem her coupons, but I took her shopping and we enjoyed the sunshine together!

This card actually took a long time because I made the purse from scratch. Pretty nice, eh? ...watch out, Louis Vuitton! ;P

Check out my card from last year.

To all the mommas, Happy Mother's Day!

Ideas for Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day is this Sunday! Tomorrow is my day off, so I'm planning to shop for my momma :) Knowing my mom, she might tell me to return the gift, but I'm pretty sure she's not going to return my handmade card for her! lol! I found some cute cards that I might actually want to make.
  1. Purse-onal Greetings
(I HAD to copy this title! It's way too clever!)

You can make your mom a one-of-a-kind purse with a lovely message inside. My mom loves handbags, so I think she will like this!

  2. "M" is for Mother

Although this is not my style, I think this card is really pretty! Maybe one day I can make pretty cards like this one.
Visit Free-CardMaking to see more Mother's Day cards and to download this project.
  3. Just for Mom

This is more like my style! It's cute and the colours are nice and bright. I'm not loving the font because it looks like it's blending into the background, but other than that...I like the layout of it. This is also from Free-CardMaking.

Remember to come back to see what I made for my mom :)

Sunday Craft Fairs: Got Craft? and Make It!

This morning bff and I went to two craft fairs! The first one was Got Craft? Spring Show at the Royal Canadian Legion (2205 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC). The local vendors really wowed us with their handmade products like jewelries, ceramics, clothing, etc! It started at 10am and the first 30 people received a free, handmade swag bag stuffed full of small samples from all of the vendors! Unfortunately we were not one of the first 30 people :( I can see why some people would line up three hours for this event...I mean, LOOK at all the goodies! I will definitely line up for their Holiday Show in December! (and hopefully bff will come too!)

The second craft show was make it! Vancouver at The Croatian Cultural Centre (3250 Commercial Drive, Vancouver BC). This one has more varieties to shop for and look at, but it didn't wow me as much as the first craft show because the products seem to target more to the older audience. Other than that, it was really inspiring to see so many talented people! Also, the first 25 shoppers get a free goodie bag! This time, we were the first 25 people! The goodie bag wasn't as great as the swag bag mentioned earlier, but hey...it was free! and I like free stuff! :)

Good News, Everyone!

Professor Farnsworth from Futruama

As Professor Farnsworth would say, "Good news, everyone!"

There's going to be a new Michaels Craft Store opening this Fall 2010! This new location is a lot closer to the one I always go to. With less time traveling to places, I can shop even longer! :D My bff told me this a while ago and I finally got to see the sign in person!

I'm so excited!
