Afternoon Tea at the Castle

A's birthday was way back in May, but there's a reason why I finally blogged about her birthday card. I bought a voucher from Dealfind for an afternoon tea for two people at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. To surprise A, I made her a cute tea party themed card.

Reminiscing Summer

Hello again! :)

I just went through a full week of school, volunteer, and work! Even though I'm super tired, I feel very productive. I'm loving the sunshine in September, which is rare in Vancouver, BC. This got me reminiscing my awesome summer.

On the Labour Day, my friends and I walked along Stanley Park's Seawall. It was a very nice three hours walk; however, hunger kicked in at the last hour. In the end, some of us were separated since we walked at our own pace. We had dog walkers, bikers, and...me! I was the last one because I was taking pictures. I took a lot of pictures, but I was able to pick my top three. Enjoy! :)

It's Sew Easy!

Back in June, I purchased Sew Easy's Stitch Piercer, Piercing Mat, and Floss in pink. So how easy was it? I must say, it was quite easy. I used them to make CD's birthday card.

A and I went during the afternoon to check it out and take advantage of the "buy one and get one for one cent" promotion. I wish I took more pictures of the new store, but I was too busy shopping. Anyway, keep reading and see what I bought! :)

Beijing and Hong Kong Photos

As promised over a month ago, here are some of my favourite photos from my Beijing and Hong Kong trip with my mom. It was nice going through the pictures again. I kinda wish I'm still in Hong Kong..spending time with my relatives and eating delicious food. I'll be back again in the future :) For now, enjoy the photos!
We went to the Forbidden City on the first day of the tour. This imperial palace took us four hours to walk through!

Just For You, Momma

Hello and Happy Mother's Day!

Oops. It has been more than a month since I posted something. I just came back from Beijing and Hong Kong almost two weeks ago and I'm still adjusting the time difference. Plus, I'm just lazy :) I'm planning to have a separate post about my trip so please look forward to it! :)

Anyways, today is mother's day and this is the card I made for my momma (see below).

Bubble Tea...Just For You

Happy Birthday to my gnomie, BN! :)

This long weekend was eventful! Despite having a major report due on Sunday (don't ask why), I still enjoyed the Easter break. It was nice to finally see some sunshine in Vancouver!

This card is quite special because bubble tea has became a weekly routine for BN, A, and me. Bubble tea is a popular type of drink that consist of chewy balls made out of tapioca. In short, it's delicious! :) I had quite a laugh while making this card! I used plastic wrap to make the card look like the cups that the restaurants serve.

Bubble Tea from S-Tea :D

Tool and supplies used:
♥ Card stock paper in light blue, orange, and yellow
♥ Black marker
♥ Glitter glue in Diamond by Tulip
♥ "Just For You" wooden stamp by Studio G
♥ 1/2" Round Corner squeeze punch by Fiskars
♥ 2" Circle Lever Punch by Recollections
♥ Clear, plastic wrap

On the side note, A and I discovered a NEW Michaels Arts and Crafts location while shopping for BN's birthday gift. This COMING SOON store is located between Alberni Street and Burrard Street. It looks like its going to be above a retail store, Brooks Brothers. I'm not sure when it will open, but all I can say is that this new location is a lot closer and easier to commute to. Dangerous for my wallet!

Pretty in Pink Bridal Shower

Happy April, everyone!

Here's a very first bridal shower card that I made for the bride-to-be! I had an idea of which tools and materials to use (pearls and lace, of course), but in the end, I kept it very simple.

Ruffled Birthday Card

I’m just in love with pearls and lace right now!

The previous lace card that I made for my mom is pretty and I wanted make something similar. This time, I added some ruffles at the bottom. The ruffles turned out better than I thought since the layers create a nice effect. I will definitely do this again! To finish the card, I added a lace border, minty green pearls, and a sheer bow. Ta da!

Happy Birthday, CC!

CC said she loves her card so much that she wants to wear the pearls as earrings. Hilarious! :)

Mom, It's Your Day! Happy Birthday!

Family and I celebrated my momma's birthday on Monday. I made two cards for my mom this year! The first one is a random drawing of the family wearing some kind of party hat? haha Don't ask, I drew this around 3:30am :P

Good Morning, Happy Birthday!
This is her second card (see below). I love everything about this card! The deep purple, lace, pearls, and lime green embellishment match well together. Most importantly, my mom loves it too!

Flowers For You

I was taking a break from writing my-never-ending-papers and looking at old photos in my albums. I stumbled these pictures (see below) which was photographed last summer. Clearly, I'm drooling for Summer...

Sunny Floral Greeting

Here's another going away card that I made for my friend, MC, who just left Vancouver to start his new career in San Francisco (congratulations!). I met MC at the SFU Origami Club so I thought it would be nice to make him an origami-themed card.

For this card, I folded five 2 inches squares to form the flower and the corners. This technique is known as Tea Bag Folding.Unlike the traditional origami, tea bag folding uses several small square pieces of printed paper that are folded exactly the same way. Then, the pieces are used to link together to form beautiful 3D designs. It’s great for decorating your cards and making unique ornaments.

Fun Fact: Why is it called “Tea Bag Folding”?

Tea bag folding was originated in Holland. Tiny van der Plaas was worried about giving a birthday card for her sister, so she began folding envelopes that enclosed her tea bag. In Holland, tea bag envelopes are colourful and decorated with designs. In the end, she created a unique and decorative card; as a result, it was the beginning of tea bag folding! Is it Spring Yet?

Hi all!

It was nice to see some sunshine in Vancouver today. I don't know about you but I'm definitely ready for spring! Anyways, I made these cards for two of my friends. The first one is a get well soon card and the other card is a goodbye card.

I made sure that these cards are bright and colourful to cheer up my friends! I used Stampendous' Pattern Trio clear stamp and coloured the flowers and leaves myself. This stamp is really pretty! Plus it reminds me of spring...and allergies :O
