Cake Decorating Class

This has nothing to do with handmade cards, but I want to share my other hobbies! ...I like to bake! :)

For the past 4 weeks, I've been taking a cake decorating class at Michaels with my new friend :) We registered for the Decorating Basics course and our instructor taught us how to decorate our cakes with icing tips to create pretty designs like rosettes, shells, pompom flowers, ribbons roses, and many more!

Sunflowers, Shaggy mums, pompom flowers, and a heart with shells borders.

The downside of this class is the amount of time spent in baking and making the buttercream icing. I usually don’t have fun making the icing because my arms usually get exhausted from mixing. Another drawback is the amount of money spent because students have to bring and/or purchase their own supplies and tools. They recommend buying the store’s Wilton Cake Decorating Kits and it's kind of pricey (good thing I had a 50% off coupon!).

I won't be continuing to Course 2: Flowers and Cake Designs. If I ever need to learn something, I will ask my good friends, YouTube and Google ;)

Anyways, here are some pictures from my class:

OH! There were two birthday girls this weekend, so be sure to come back to see their birthday cards! :)

  3. SarahBear, your cupcakes are concave? :O You might have either over or under mixed the batter. Or it could be the baking soda/powder? Keep practicing! :)

maybegirl, of course I can teach you! I think you'll enjoy it!
